The value of some potion reagents has fluctuated in this war-torn economy, so you may see some changes to the gold coin value of some of our potions. Long, Steven (November 9, 2021). Also an ethereal monster, and one that isn’t what we thought. Common belief was that the Dread Wraith would show up as a boss character, it looks more likely to just be a really powerful entity in Zargon’s ranks.

Thanks to this post from Avalon Hill earlier today, we have some more details for the upcoming HeroQuest expansion Rise of the Dread Moon.

The dramatic story of treachery and unrest in the elven kingdom continues in this HeroQuest Rise of the Dread Moon expansion! As a brave knight, you’re challenged to finally free Elethorn from the clutches of Zargorn. Embark on dangerous quests, as you seek the aid of the Cadre of the Raven's Veil to help stop Zargorn's forces of Dread from destroying the kingdom. Navigate through a dark labyrinth of waterways, an underground city, and more perilous locations. But be wary—for Zargon's forces grow ever stronger with the rise of the Dread Moon! Dohm-Sanchez, Jeffrey (October 13, 2022). "Avalon Hill Unveils'HeroQuest: Rogue Heir of Elethorn' ". ICv2 . Retrieved 2023-04-30. So it makes sense for Elves to be featured prominently. Maybe this conflict didn’t end with the Mage of the Mirror, maybe it doesn’t end with the Elves. Maybe Sir Ragnar has plans to throw the whole realm into chaos… wait, dread, we can’t say chaos anymore. Alright, I’m sorry you had to sit through all that, now for the part I’m most excited about. How do the Heroes stand up to the new enemies! As I don’t have my copy of the game yet, I’ll be using some stand-ins for the monsters. I hope you enjoyed my ramblings about this new HeroQuest Expansion. Let me know your thoughts on this newest HeroQuest expansion in the comments.

Heroquest Rise of the Dread Moon announcement

If they are planning on releasing one of the Mythic Quests, I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to release them all, as long as they can work everything out with the rest of the quest designers: Teos Abadia (Spirit Queen’s Torment) and Joe Manganiello (The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness). Stay Tuned for More HeroQuest We now have a really good look at the Rise of the Dread Moon box art! I’m really excited about this, it gives us a bit of a sneak peek into what we can expect to find in this all new adventure. Once a group tears through the quest book, the expansion’s mechanics can be added to the HeroQuest core experience and replayed as they fancy. Players can also design their own scenarios and connected adventures using the new miniatures, cards and terrain tiles in addition to everything that comes in the base box.Another mystery, the new HeroQuest expansion’s name. It was conveniently cut off so we can’t see what it’s called.

The Wraith, seeing the Barbarian as it’s biggest threat, casts Fear on him then floats past him and through the corridor. We don't quite know the mechanics of the Specter yet because there may be some unwritten rule yet on how to hit a specter. But I'm thinking for this to work the heroes may need a special weapon to fight them... Of course the Spirit Blade! The name itself sounds relevant but there's only 1. Maybe a few additional artifacts will be made that work against them. Holy Water is another one. I have no objections to magic spells working against them either, just physical weapons furniture and walls. Thanks HispaZargon for the edit! Formerly this was titled "New "Knight" Expansion (PulseCon 2022) News & Discussion" No longer able to see the Heroes, the Wraith further retreats, biding it’s time, waiting for the Heroes to come to it.

Yesterday the Prequel Quest "Knightfall" was posted online. This is the one that has all those sold out GenCon sessions. It is being recommended to play first, but as many have pointed out, it seems worded towards beginner players, and yet at the same time doesn't serve to fully equip a team of basic heroes for the beginning of ROTDM (which has a difficulty comparable to KK/ROTWL or Prophecy of Telor/Spirit Queen's Torment, at first glance). If this is your first time hearing about Rise of the Dread Moon, this is an expansion for the HeroQuest Game System and requires the game system to play. A Note to the Development Team I am now thoroughly convinced that, as HeroQuest Superfans, the Avalon Hill HeroQuest team are now just making their own homebrews official! Why wouldn’t they!? If I was a designer, working on HeroQuest, I would probably do that too!
